Group Classes
Group classes at Spruce & String offer a shared learning environment where musicians can build foundational skills, deepen understanding, and grow alongside others. These classes are designed to complement private study or serve as a gentle entry point into music-making, depending on the focus of the class.
Group classes may include:
Beginner violin classes introducing the instrument, posture, bowing, and basic musicianship
Music theory and foundational musicianship classes
Technique and fundamentals workshops
Practice strategy and habit-building sessions
Listening, score study, and discussion-based classes
Classes are intentionally paced and thoughtfully structured, allowing students time to absorb new concepts and develop confidence in a supportive group setting.
Beginner Violin Group Classes
Beginner violin group classes are designed for students who are new to the instrument and benefit from learning alongside peers. These classes provide a calm, structured introduction to violin playing, focusing on healthy setup, basic technique, listening skills, and musical awareness.
Beginner group classes emphasize:
Proper posture and instrument setup
Foundational bowing and left-hand coordination
Listening and rhythm skills
Musical confidence and comfort with the instrument
Group classes may serve as:
A first introduction before private lessons
A supportive supplement to individual instruction
A low-pressure way to explore the violin

A calm, respectful learning environment
Group classes are offered in person and online, depending on the topic and format.
