Coaching & Mentorship

Coaching and mentorship at Spruce & String support musicians who are seeking deeper understanding, stronger practice habits, and greater clarity in their musical work. These sessions are focused on music theory, practice strategy, and musical problem-solving, rather than weekly instrumental instruction.

This offering is well suited for students who already study an instrument and are looking for guidance in how to practice more effectively, understand their music more fully, or navigate challenges in their musical development.

Coaching and mentorship may support:

  • Music theory and harmonic understanding

  • Reading, analysis, and score awareness

  • Practice planning and structure

  • Problem-solving technical or musical challenges

  • Developing independence and confidence in practice

Sessions are flexible and responsive, meeting musicians where they are and helping them build tools that support long-term growth.

What to Expect

Coaching sessions begin with a conversation to understand goals, current challenges, and musical background. Work is then tailored to address specific needs, whether conceptual, practical, or reflective.

Musicians can expect:

  • Clear explanations of musical concepts

  • Thoughtful guidance in organizing practice time

  • Support in connecting theory to real musical work

  • A calm, focused space for questions and exploration

Coaching and mentorship sessions are available in person and online, and may be scheduled on an ongoing or as-needed basis.

Scheduling & Scope

Because coaching needs vary widely, sessions are structured individually based on focus and goals. This service may complement private lessons or stand alone as targeted musical support.

Session details and fees are discussed individually after an initial conversation.
